Started a new project a few weeks ago to remove all of the tar-like sound deadening from the inside of the car. Being the car was intended to be a luxury car, there's quite of a lot of the heavy substance just waiting to be removed. I have found that the best way to remove it is to first freeze it with dry ice. This removes a great deal of the stuff and just leaves a thin layer of the adhesive left on the floor of the car. The rest of it can be taken up with a steel brush on my grinder and some goo-gone. It is a lot of work but should be worth around 20lbs off of the chassis weight.
